Construction is with brass end-caps holding Manganin resistance elements. The latter has a temperature coefficient ~±15ppm/°C.
Kelvin contacts are provided for the voltage output.
Panel-mount
- RS resistors have values from 41.7μΩ to 20mΩ (±0.25%).
There are sub-versions here:
RSA 5 to 50A, 51mm long
RSB 170 to 600A, 83mm long
RSC 800 to 1.2kA, 114mm long - RSN are panel-mount 100μΩ – 100 mΩ (±0.10%), 1A to 500A
Bus bar-mount
- RSH 83μΩ to 6.67mΩ* (±0.25%), 15A to 600A 105 to 159mm long
- RSI 42μΩ to 333μΩ (±0.25%), 300A to 1.2kA 149mm long
- RSJ 8.3μΩ to 67μΩ (±0.25%), 1.5kA to 6kA, 244mm long
- RSW 250μΩ to 10mΩ (±0.25%), 5A to 200A 64 to 73mm long.
*maximum value may be 3.3mΩ, Bourns documents differ
Except for RSW types, available resistance values are made to provide 50mV or 100mV output at the nominal rated current.
Maximum continuous current is two thirds of the rated current, and operation is across -40 to +80°C, with de-rating required in ambients above 40°C.
The existing series is RSK, with devices rated from 1kA to 3kA.
All the parts are UL listed and RoHS compliant.
Applications are foreseen in battery management systems, solar inverters, welding equipment, heat-treating equipment, power supplies and cathodic protection rectifiers.
