Oak Ridge to install Quantum computing cluster

The US’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is to integrate a cluster of Quantum Brilliance’s (QB’s) diamond-based quantum processing elements into its conventional supercomputers.

“Parallel quantum computing holds potential for scientific discovery and industrial applications that require high-performance computing,” said ORNL director of quantum science Travis Humble. “Partnering with Quantum Brilliance allows us to explore effective integration with our existing HPC systems, paving the way for advancements that will inform the design of future HPC infrastructure.”

One of the aims of the project is to develop computational methods for hybrid computing, and software tools that will enable users to implement those methods.

Founded in 2019 out of Australian National University research, Quantum Brilliance now has operations in Australia and Germany.
