Work lights for electrical installations

LEDlenser has created a range of LED work torches for peering into electrical cabinets, amongst other applications.

“Depending on the job at hand, professionals expect different things from their work lights: selectable colour temperature and higher colour rendering indices help electrical contractors test cables, the automotive mechatronics sector needs lamps with plane heads to light up hard-to-reach places,” according to Conrad, which is stocking the flash lights.

There are seven, all IP54, and all but one with a USB-C rechargeable Li-ion cell:

  • W1R (pictured above) is compact and has a large clip and a hinged head to move its floodlight around – 61g, 7h max, 220 or 60 lm
  • W2R is a pocket-sized pen light with a beam from the end or a flood from the side – 61g, 7h max, 220 or 100 lm
  • W2 is similar to the W2R, but with AAA replaceable batteries – 65g, IP54, 20h max, 160 or 80 lm
  • W4R also has a spotlight on the end and a floodlight on the side, plus a rigid clip and a hinge in the middle so that it can sit up in various ways – 91g IP54 9h max, 220 or 100 lm
  • W5R is for larger workspaces, and has a magnetic base and sprung hook – 153g, 153mm long, IP54, 6h max, 600 or 20 lm. Output is 6,000 to 7,500K white, 80CRI – some of others are 70CRI
  • W6R (pictured below) with a beam on the end and a flood on the side, which hinges into a short fat shape with a flood on its side for confined spaces – 180g, IP54, 6hr max, 500 to 20 lm
  • W7R similar to W6R, with floodlight colour temperature selection from neutral white to cold white to improve colour differentiation for cables. The end beam is ultraviolet (365nm) for leak detection and document checking. Mounting options include a base, magnetic holder and sprung hook – 180g IP54, 5h max, 600 to 220 lm.
