Silicon Laboratories has announced its first dual interface silicon direct access arrangements (DAAs) to configure automatically to either an AC’97 interface or the new Intel High Definition Audio interface.
The Si3054 and Si3024 DAAs use an autodetect feature which recognises the AC’97 and High Definition Audio interface. The dual interface and autodetect capabilities enable existing qualified modems to support new High Definition Audio products while continuing to support their existing high-volume AC’97 platforms, said the supplier.
The DAAs are designed to eliminate the need for an analogue front end, an isolation transformer, relays, opto-isolators and a two- to four-wire hybrid. They are also programmable to meet global telephone line standards including FCC, TBR21, JATE, and country-specific PTTs and safety and emissions requirements.
The Si3054 and Si3024 chipsets include a system-side and a line-side device packaged in low-profile 16-pin SOIC or TSSOP packages. The Si3054 chipset is available now in an SOIC package for $4.12 in quantities of 10,000. The Si3024 chipset is also available now for $3.89 in quantities of 10,000.
