Vishay upgrades analogue switch and mutiplexer line

Vishay has up-graded its traditional analogue switch and analogue multiplexer lines using a new silicon process.

Now on an 18V process, key specifications improvements include operating voltage up from 12 to 16V, lower leakage, reduced parasitic capacitance, faster switching, enhanced ruggedness, higher latch-up current and better ESD protection.

“For example, the new DG9408E and DG9409E  – drop-in upgrades for the DG9408 and DG9409 – feature 20% lower on-resistance, 10% faster switching, 35% lower parasitic capacitance, enhanced latch-up capability to 400 mA, and guaranteed ESD protection to 2.5kV human body model,” said the firm.

According to the firm, the process it has moved to is “on a mature process platform in an established facility, with an eye towards shortening lead times and supporting the long life cycles of these products”.

Applications are expected in industrial control, automation systems, audio signal routing, video signal routing, instrumentation, test equipment, data acquisition, communication systems, medical and healthcare.

The diagram is of the Vishay DG408LE, an 8:1 analogue multiplexer.  An ‘on’-channel conducts equally well in both directions, and ‘off’-channels block voltages up to the power supply rails. Channel selection is through the three address logic inputs and operation is recommended from 3 to 16V single rail or  ±3 to ±8V dual rail. Break-before-make switching action protects against momentary cross-talk between channels.

Example: DG408LE
