STEM: Petoi Bittle robotic dog appears in kit form

The Petoi Bittle STEM kit is a lower cost version of its palm sized robot dog, which we have featured before. The goal is to help teach tech enthusiasts about robotics and coding. It can be programmed to walk, do tricks and roll around cutely, and it’s described as having an impressive running speed along with agility.

The robot – which is built on the OpenCat framework – features an Arduino compatible motion controller. There’s wireless connectivity, programmable gaits and behaviours and, apparently, “shock reduction joints”.

Note that it differs slightly from Bittle V1 – the STEM kit contains plastic-gear servos instead of metal, which makes it lighter and more flexible.

The Bittle STEM kit will be available online with an RRP of £223, although in the run up to Christmas it will be available at a promotional price of £180. It will also launch on Amazon UK mid-December.

Kickstarter

We first wrote about the Petoi Bittle back in 2020, when it’s KickStarter campaign was highlighted.

It smashed its funding targets, if you didn’t guess. The project raised $567,218 from 2,052 backers.
