Japan and Netherlands reported to join US in China export restrictions

There are reports that the US has agreed with the governments of the Netherlands and Japan that they will impose restrictions on the export of semiconductor manufacturing equipment to China.

Officials at all three nations are keeping schtumm on the terms of the deal.

It is thought that ASML may refuse to sell some of the latest versions of its DUV immersion steppers along with the currently implemented EUV export ban.


.All that the White House national security spokesperson, John Kirby would say about the tri-nation talks was that “the safety and security of emerging technologies is going to be on that agenda.”


Japan’s Economy and Trade Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura said that Japan will “respond accordingly based on restrictions adopted by other nations.”
