Trio team up for secure IoT cellular connectivity

Arrow Electronics, Infineon and Arkessa have joined forces to provide connected devices for the IoT, based on the GSMA’s eSIM specification for secure communications. The agreement sees Infineon’s secured hardware controllers and Arkessa’s secured mobile data services provided by Arrow to OEMs, system integrators and enterprises for secure cellular services.

IoT security

Infineon’s SLM security controllers are based on eSIM and can be coupled with Arkessa’s cellular, NB-IoT, and LTE-M services.

The collaboration has come about as industry 4.0 gains momentum, highlighting the security issues around M2M communication, where information is exchanged using cellular networks. e-SIM. Although the SLM controllers are optimised for industrial use, with an operating range of -40˚C to +105˚C, Arrow points out that the secure hardware and network provision can also be used to develop smart cities, asset tracking and in retail environments.
