“The platform was pre-certified so that the field device can operate in any of the supported industrial Ethernet networks,” according to the company. “The module contains everything needed to participate in a EtherCat, Profinet real-time and isochronous real-time, EtherNet/IP network, including a communications controller, protocol stack, flash, RAM, follower controller and physical layer.”
An applications processor connects via a UART, SPI or Ethernet interface.
At the software layer, the applications processor connects to a unified interface so the supported industrial protocols can be used without changing the applications processor software.
For cyber security, the module has secure boot and secure update.
Operation is from 3.3V (840mW) and over -40°C to +85°C.
There are evaluation kits for EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP or Profinet, and an application example to demonstrate end-to-end, host-to-network and interface-to controller communication.
Packaging is a 194pad CSPBGA.
