“The performance of SoCs and other large computing processors are constantly increasing, said Empower marketing manager Mukund Krishna. “It is becoming increasingly difficult to reach the level of power integrity and voltage regulation that these devices require with conventional MLCCs. EC1005P features close-to-ideal parasitic parameters, allowing these SoCs to operate with reduced voltage margining.”
Measuring ~3.6 x 3 x 0.8mm, it comes in a 120pad chip-scale package and has sub-1pH equivalent series inductance and sub-3mΩ equivalent series resistance. Low impedance up to 1GHz is claimed, as is stability over voltage, temperature and time.
Little more specific information is available – the EC1005P is only sampling now, with volume production scheduled for Q4 this year.
In general terms, for its silicon capacitors, the company claims “equivalent to COG” temperature derating and <0.001%/10khr aging.
