30V TO-220 mosfets from Infineon

Infineon has announced seven 30V mosfets in TO-220 packaging.

Infineon TO220 StrongIRFET 2 mosfet

They are part of its StrongIRfet 2 family, which are less qualified that its industrially-rated Optimos devices.

“The new power mosfets were designed to meet the requirements of mass market applications – switched-mode power supplies, motor drives, battery management systems and uninterruptible power supplies,” it said.

Resistance and gate charge improvements are claimed over earlier members of the family, but Infineon has not provided figures to back up these claims.

So, picking the 78A (10Vg, 25°C) IPP033N03LF2S at random: with 10V on the gate the figures are 3.3mΩ max and 33nC typ, changing to 5mΩ max and 16nC typ at 4.5Vg. Current rating drops to 60A at 100°C, and junction to case thermal resistance is 1.8°C/W.

Of this family, Infineon added: “By the end of 2024, the portfolio will be available in a wider range of packages including to DPAK, D2PAK, PQFN and SuperSO8.

The parts and their max current and max 4.5Vg Rds(on) figures are:

  • IPP011N03LF2S 210A 1.5mΩ
  • IPP050N03LF2S 53A 7.5mΩ
  • IPP033N03LF2S 78A 5mΩ
  • IPP018N03LF2S 128A 2.5mΩ
  • IPP020N03LF2S 125A 3mΩ
  • IPP023N03LF2S 121A 3.5mΩ
  • IPP044N03LF2S 53A 6mΩ

In each case the gate threshold voltage is typically 1.35V (2.35V max), and operation is over -55 to +175°C
