AI expected to benefit engineering most

Could this be the year we start to see artificial intelligence (AI) starting to make an impact on businesses and our lives?

Ai-in-business-bar-chartAccording to a recent market survey by online marketplace OnBuy.com, the market expects AI to have its largest impact in engineering, administration and customer service.

Cas Paton, managing director, OnBuy.com writes:

“It’s interesting to see how consumers feel about artificial intelligence, particularly as its use is rising. AI can encourage industries such as engineering and healthcare, to effectively refine skill set and approach.

Likewise, AI also has the power to elevate our brick and mortar stores; boosting processes and consumer interaction – which is only ever a good thing. In business, we should not fear change; it’s essential to grow and progress.”

This comes at a time when robotics and artificial intelligence are in line to receive £93 million as part of the government’s £1billion industrial strategy fund.

Some observers believe the UK economy could benefit by as much as £650bn over the next 20 years as a result of the adoption of artificial intelligence.

As much as 30% of existing UK jobs could face automation over the next 15 years, according to PWC.

But another poll by insidesales.com found that while there is distrust the use of artificial intelligence a significant number of respondents believed it would add value in the workplace.
