Licensing revenue in the fiscal Q4 quarter grew 60% y-o-y to $414 million, royalties grew 37% to $514 million
For the full year, revenues were $3,233 million up 21% y-o-y for a profit which was up 80% at $1,408 million, with royalty revenue up 8% y-o-y at $1,802 million and licensing revenue up 43% y-o-y at $1,431 million.
However the company’s forecast for the current quarter of revenue between $875 million and $925 million sent its share price down from $109 to $106.
In fiscal Q4 the royalties business benefited from Arm’s strategy of producing designs with more of the system in them and charging a higher rate for them.
Higher rate designs accounted for 20% of the Q4 royalty revenues.
It can’t be long before ARM just join all their bits together and offer it as a turnkey design to whoever will pay the most.
“Shares fall” – checks share price….$108.80 from $109…
Or: May 7 (day before results announced) $108; May 8 (day results announced) $96. It’s constantly changing, JvD, but the amount of the fall is irrelevant – the significance is that the price dropped despite the 47% revenue rise.
