IPhone 16 launch rumoured to be Sept 10

Apple is reported to be planning to launch the iPhone 16 on September 10 with a possibility of AI features and a removable battery. If Apple follows previous practice, phones are expected to be available on September 20.

“Apple Intelligence” is expected to deliver  ChatGPT to the phone and extend voice control of of its apps.

Speculation on the colours have come up with several versions of which the below is one:

With the iPhone’s sales in China falling faster than expected, a substantial software upgrade is seen as one way of  regaining market share.

Ming-Chi Kuo, the Apple analyst, says the new phone’s battery casing will be made of stainless steel allowing 5-10% higher cell density and consequently longer battery life.

Apple is expected to increase the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro to 6.3-inches and the iPhone 16 Pro Max to 6.9-inch.

The possibility of the new phone having a removable battery is less likely though Apple has to introduce that by 2027 under EU regulations.

The EU is to require that devices have batteries which “can be removed with the use of commercially available tools and without requiring the use of specialised tools, unless they are provided free of charge, or proprietary tools, thermal energy or solvents to disassemble it.”
