Distributor consortium gets seventh member

European distributor group Advanced European has swelled its ranks with the signing of Computer Controls. The Zurich-based distributor becomes the seventh company to join the group, which is an alliance of independent distributors covering most of the key European markets.

Computer Controls sells electronic components, EDA software and measuring and test instruments. Lines include Sony, Dallas Semiconductor, Elan Semiconductor, Tektronix and TDK. It operates in Switzerland, Liechtenstein and it has operations in 18 east European countries including Hungary, Croatia, Czech Republic, Russia and Poland.

Roy Greer, chief executive of Advanced European and managing director of UK-based 2001 Electronic Components, welcomed Computer Controls’ membership.

“With the continuing growth of the EU and flow of contract manufacturing to eastern Europe this agreement is of huge strategic significance for the long term development of the group. Advanced European’s operations now cover virtually all of Europe.”
