In reply to Fred Dart. Was the company Interdesign?, I have one of their booklets with lots of useful bipolar i.c. designs which also had the Ferranti logo if I remember correctly.

Swiss and PLL makes me think of Hans Camenzind, so the chip must be the 555. The Ferranti connection was new to me, but Wikipedia records the sale of Interdesign to them so confirming my thoughts.

That was a hard one, but it looks like Hans Camenzind who also designed the ubiquitous 555 timer IC for Signetics.
